Inspiration for this shoot came from the theme of sisterhood in Ghana, which is central to Kpledzo – a ritual procession of sisters in Prampram, Accra. Dressing the same never looked cooler.
Sky Babies is a project by YEVU and Ghanaian creative duo, Francis Kokoroko and Daniel Quist. This photo series is a commentary on the dynamic cultural exchange in Ghana: the merging of cheap imitations of high fashion and locally produced western designs. All the models were cast via Facebook and Instagram. Collages by Jessica Holmes of ampmdesigns.
These images were created in collaboration with Ghanaian photographer, Francis Kokoroko, and local sign writing artist, "Don." It presents a hyper-real dramatisation of domestic life. The shoot pays homage to the work of 80s/90s Ghanaian studio photographer, Philip Kwame Apagya, who shot his subjects in front of opulent painted backgrounds.
